Cities across America often vie for certain titles that bring attention, travelers and industry to their fair towns; Best Place to Live, Best Place to Retire, to Raise a Family, for Outdoor lifestyles…. But no city wants the title of “Most Infested”. And yet there exists a list of the cities with the highest rate of bed bug infestations. CBS news recently compiled such a list which we’ve included here to further educate our readers. If having to travel to these areas, be sure to take extra care in making sure that the little critters don’t come back home with you. Areas to be diligent in while visiting include:

  • Minneapolis, MN ranks as the 15th most infested city with pest control companies seeing bed bugs for the first time in 30 or 40 years.
  • Cleveland, OH claims the 14th most infested position with its board of health admitting that instances of bed bugs have doubled in one year.
  • Louisville, KY is 13th in the list with its agencies claim that they are unable to get rid of bed bugs.
  • Indianapolis, IN comes racing in at the 12th position and understands that bed bugs are there to stay.
  • Boston, MA residents have also been hit hard by bed bug infestations and are 11th in the nation in terms of bed bug population.
  • Los Angeles, CA cracks the top 10 and may consider a change of name from the City of Angels.
  • Washington, DC ranks at number nine for the number of creepy little critters infesting the city. We’re referring to bed bugs in this case, not politicians.
  • Dayton, OH is also feeling the bite of bed bugs and admit that they don’t know how to control them. They rank at number eight.
  • Columbus, OH is the third Ohio city to break into the top ten at number seven.
  • Numbers two through six go to Philadelphia, Detroit, Cincinnati, Chicago and Denver, respectively.
  • Which means the number one spot in the nation that should be most concerned about the effective removal of bedbugs is New York City.
